    New rear springs

I noticed my MK1 Stag ws listing slightly so decided to replace the rear springs. On removal of the old ones there were no lower bushes, infact nothing at all, it wsa metal to metal. The rubber top bushes very stuck to the springs.

I'd bought some new springs and poly bushes from Rimmers but once fitted I've still got the list and the rear of the car is approx 4" higher. I've re-checked the fitting and all seems OK.

    Any ideas please.

Standard ride height is 14 1/2" from centre of wheel to wheel arch. New springs do settle after a while apparently.

Hi Tony, it rather appears that it's the front springs thatare at fault, without wishing to hurt any feelings, leaving out the spring pads is a bodge, has the same thing been done at the front ? Alternatives include worn out trailing arm and/or subframe bushes. Good luck, Martin.

The car list towards the drivers side. (No fat ******* jokes please). I've already replaced the struts and they were OK. REcently I had four grown men in the car for s short trip to the pub. It ws after this it started listing. Next time I'll take four nice blonds instead.

The cars colour is cherry black metalic, a special mix that looks black in dull weater bur comes alive in the sun. It like metallic plum colour with reads and blues thrown in.

I've got the same problem. Have replaced rear springs and shocks but still 'tilts' to the right. Thought it may be the front suspension but have been informed the rear suspension arms (outriggers I think) may have elongated holes through wear, where the shims fit and can cause this problem. Still haven't got as far as checking yet. Hope this helps.

I had the same problem, I noticed it after i bought the car. worked out it was probably the front ones. stripped it all out and found the O/S spring was about an 1" shorter than the other when side by side, 2 new ones from Robsport sorted it but seeing as I done the fronts I'm going to change the rears as well this year.

They all seem to have a tendency to sit a bit lower on the drivers side. There is more weight on that side of the car. battery, alternator petrol tank (And Driver:P) are all on that side.

(Who has a Stag that sits 1 1/2 " higher at the front than it should for reasons unknown!)

                    Hi guys

I had the same problem tried new adjustable shocks but still about 1" difference but sorted it out by fitting an uprated 2.5 Estate rear sprin on the drivers side and std on the passengers. worked a treat both now bang on same distance from wheel centre.
