    Clock for M2 Stag

Gent's any idea where I could get a replacement clock for a Mk 2. Took mine out today as I can hear it ticking but do's not turn the hands. Thought that I may be able to get it working again, but unfortunately a previous owner had tried to do this and the hands were glued together and fell to bits. You could see where they had been broken previously and glued together.

Not sure if I could have it mended or not??

Martin if I'm successfull you can have it mate free of charge. Just wondering if I might put it to a jewlers and see if they could fix it. Will not hold my breath though. Pretty sickening as I can hear it working inside

There are a few on Ebay if you search for kienzle.I noticed the faces and bezels are not all the same though.

Ive got one that works - I took it out a couple of months ago to fit an oil pressure guage - don't think it kept very good time though - if you are interested let me know

            Cheers

              Hi Mike,

I was told that it is possible to have a modern movement fitted inside the clock and retain the original face and hands. I was thinking of trying this with mine because it also ticks but the hands don't move, but I haven't done it yet. I think a good jewellers could do the job.

When I bought my Stag it had a newishclock in it, found a receipt in the glove box for it, it was from Rimmers. It keeps perfect time,...... give or take 10-15 minutes.

they seem to be fairly useless! when I got mine it did not work but I managed to get it working for a while - gave up and got one on ebay - worked fine on the bench so fitted it, worked fine in the car for about a month and now that one has packed up as well!

Would be interested to know about a modern mechanism in the old clock as that would seem to be the answer

I've got one in my garage that is 100% accurate...twice a day too.

I have an original which nowkeeps excellent time. It wasn't working when I got it but I discovered that thepin below the time setting knobhas a tendency to slip out of its groove and can jam down beside the hands. Difficult and tedious to free it up when it happens and I wonder how many clocks were written off because of this fault.

Moraystag, if its ticking its working, and you don't need a jeweller. It is a mechanical clock with an electric winder. Get a scrapper from someone (Martin at Justriumph) and use the hands from it. Getting the bezel off and on again without too much butchery is the biggest problem.

The bezels on these instruments are effectively a bayonet fit, you'll find tags on the bezel and corresponding gaps in the body. I dunno - doing myself out of a freebee here. Martin.

Some of these clocks just need a bit of lubrication, they go dry and stop working.

Gent's stripped down the clock and basically put it back together again, SUCCESS!!, it's been working away like a train since this morning. When I took the insides apart just gave them a very light clean. Don't know for sure but it looked like someone had been into it before and jammed the little pendulum come roller thing.

Not hard to take apart approx 15 mins. Thanks to the guys who offered me a replacement clock, hopefully & fingers crossed it will not pack in again.
