Welded nut rear inner wheel arch?

Hi,i'm restoring my stag at the moment and was wondering what the purpose of the welded in nut was on the front of the rear inner wheel arch panel, mines rusty one side and needs cutting out but do i re weld it back in?The only thought i had that either it was for a jig bracket (which itwould have to go back spot on in line) or just for use during manufacturing!!any ideas?

Rear seat belt anchorage. There should be another two in the middle.

Fed. Mk2 had two point inertia belts. Fed mk1 had regular lap belts. Maybe the anchor points are different. Was was fitted to UK stags? both types?

Normally There are 2 under the seat and one on each arch, do you have more? I dont think three point were standard, maybe someone added extras.

The nut is as said for the fitting of the lap type seatbelt. I had my original belts refurbished in beige to match the interior. Also I believe that the fitment of rear seat belts is now compulsory so l guess you need to fix it

I looked this up as my 67 MG had no belts, I fitted them anyways.

In the States yes, shoulder front and rear lap since 1968, front 3 point since 74. In UK front 3 point 68 rear only became compulsory fit in 1986, but yes, fit them, why not!
