    An nervous wait

Driving along thought i run over a tin can ,stopped looked around nothing ,drove three miles car great parked up in a cloud of steam !!!!!!!!! the overflow bottle had broken free hit the fan ,tore three gashes in the radiator and was hanging under the engine with a pool behind the car .The temperature gauge hit 3/4 plus a bit ,but not all the way .Fingers crossed the head gaskets haven't gone and the fan isn't ruined . 2020 IS Getting on my wick ,up until today it was purring

2020 is certainly a very strange one for sure.

I truly hope all will turn out to be OK for you, my fingers are crossed.

Today I will be making a visit to the garage just to check that my bottle is safe and secure with no chance of breaking loose.

              Hope it is all ok.

As a matter of interest, how come the bottle ‘broke free’? Is it the OE type? If so, was the clamp missing?

DJT It is an OEtype ,the clamp worked its way down the bottle ,I had just gone over a speed bump !

Thanks. Unusual, but I can see how it has happened.

IIRC the "U" bracket welded onto the car has a couple of bends in it to prevent exactly that from happening; it is fiddly however to get the bracket into the correct position before tightening up.
