How hard is it to change the key barrel on the fuel cap? Rimmer’s have one wI’ll it fit my 1975 stag cap? My dual cap won’t lock in-fact if you press it open it’s hard to close. Cheers

If the key goes in and turns but doesn't lock then you maybe missing a pin in the body of the cap assembly, or a pin/lug off the bottom of the key barrel, will try and add a picture tomorrow , unless someone gets there first"The UK,s 2nd Most Easterly Stag" Quad Exhaust- ZF 4 Speed BOX -

its easily removed, insert the key and push the clip in thats round the base of the lock barrel then it just pulls out with the key.
After 3 years of fighting with my lock I have finally removed the barrel, pulled the very worn tumblers out and replaced the barrel, it still locks but the problem of the key going into the lock a different distance every time I fill up is now over.Comment

HI before you start just put a rag in the neck of the filler pipe so you don't drop anything in the tank, make sure the small bar is not loose or too bent in the body of cap,

P1090519.JPG As Phil has said you can see the clip that holds the barrel in around the bottom of the barrel, remove with the key in.
Don't let it fly off around the garage
, you should have a small post on the bottom of the barrel, when the key is turned to the locked position as in the photo this post stops you pushing the key area down and opening the cap by hitting the bar.
if you don't have that post/lug the cap won't lock, you can repair this by adding a post, drill the barrel in position of the post tap it, I think I did mine m3 and screw and loc tight it in , make sure you have the right length before loc tighten it in
This is how I repaired mine before changing the door and fuel cap barrels

PS if you buy a new one make sure it has the small post/lug, I thought they were unavailable but could and usually are wrong that's what M says
