    Another water pump problem

As well as a now dead stag, killed by stripped water pump/ jackshaft gear, I have a 2500 estate fitted with an efi stag engine, which I was finally going to get on the road this week. Unfortunately the top of the block is getting progressively wetter and after examining all the usual suspects it looks like the water pump seal is failing.

To be fair this pump has done about 15 years and 50,000 miles since its last rebuild but it is not what I needed right now

How many parts on a modern car would last that long? And would it be as cheap to replace as a stag one?

            Hi Neil

Sorry to hear about your run of bad luck! If you haven't already considered it, I would suggest using the LD part ceramic ring mod to the impeller when you come to repair the pump. It looks like a very good and long lasting solution.

Seems like a good option as I think I had to reface the impeller last time I reconditioned it

PS you would be amazed how many people call me Ian:?
