    Stag sold in USA

Bid for the chance to own a 2.5-Liter 1973 Triumph Stag 4-Speed at auction with Bring a Trailer, the home of the best vintage and classic cars online. Lot #36,617.

Lot of cash for a TR6 engine Stag?? I wonder if the buyer was scared of the TV8, obviously never heard one!!!

Best alternative engine, especially if fitted with EFI.

Should have been offered as an alternative to the V8 from the start. They would have sold a lot more, and not lost so much reputation.

Stag 2.5TC, Stag 2.5PI and Stag V8 in both Open and Fastback forms.........

Watched the sales video on that link. Still sounds a nice note from the TR 2.5 as it pulls ....but just cant beat that original V8 burble !

Terry the owner is or was a member of the USA Stag club. he knows Stags. a year or so back he was selling a rebuilt stag engine for 5k$ it came out of a complete running car . he parted out the car and made more money from it He was also an expert on the Rover 825 and 827 . known as the Sterling. in USA. I think the price went up higher as this car was not hacked unlike most US Stags with a Chevy or Ford engine.

A nice thing is if a nice Stag goes up in price . Fair ones go up in value from am insurance point of view. I may be able to justify to my wife why I spend a lot of time in my garage. Maybe I can convince her that I should bring Stag no. 3 back to life. I'm only 54 and I know 80 year olds working on Stags. so I have many years left. Anyone got a cheap engine USA side

There is one on ebay, been there for years. I believe they are part of the US Stag community.

Wow. Yes, bought a whole car with ok engine including all the ancillaries for $1500, don’t know if it would have run but no serious issues were found. There again I would rebuild any engine I was about to drop into my car so paying a premium for an “it runs great” claim just doesn’t come into it!

Some time back I pulled up at a local shop. There were 2 tr6’s & my stag all red. The first tr6 owner returned and drove off without chatting....just a thumbs up. sounded nice but standard 2.5 six. The second chap chatted & showed me his tr6 engine....an injected 3.9 RV8 with power steering.....nice car.
Anyone ever seen a tr6 with a stag engine?
