Position of door mirrors

Hi

Fitting door mirrors tomorrow hopefully, but unsure of position on door for mirrors.

Have seen somewhere on here measurements but typically can't find them now, anyone recall the distance from front of door and height from top of door ?

10 1/2" back from the front edge of thedoor to the front of the mirror base and centreline of the base 3" down from the window weatherstrip is the dimension on mine both sides....

Get a wide strip of masking tape and place it parallel to the top of the doorskin and mark a line on the tape 3" from the top and parallel all the way to the front edge of the door- measure 10 1/2" back from where the line crosses the front edge of thedoor and that's where the front edge of the mirror base should be...

get someone to hold the mirror before you drill the holes, driver height makes a lot of difference as thereis little adjustment after. i have to duck a bit to see out my nearside one, already on the car btw so not going to redrill it.

That's a good point. I have new seat squabs and covers so I'll fit them first.

Hi, a lot of Stags left the factory with no door mirrors, I suspect there is no "correct" position. You may find that the nearside mirror needs to be a little further back than the offside because of the quarterlight, it can also depend on which mirrors you're fitting, it is a good idea to open the quarterlights so that you know you're not obstructing them. Providing they look right, you'll be ok. Martin.
