Hardtop front seal

Just fitted my hardtop for the first time since purchase, it is the original top and has had new seals fitted front and rear. The top at the front has a gap in the middle of about 9mm diminishing to about 6mm at the windscreen pillars. Is there something missing as it looks quite ugly, or is it just a another case the the new seals being harder and less compressible than the originals.

No Roger that doesn’t sound right. They all seem to let water in at the top of the 1/4 glass and gaps around and at the top of the door are common too. The fit around the door can be fixed with adjustment of the windows but advise against touching the door hinges. Make sure it’s fitted in snuggly behind A pillars. Brett

And the tabs into the top of the windscreen is fully recessed.

Sorry perhaps I wasn't clear on my description. The gap above the doors is ok, it is the gap all around the windscreen top as it meets the hardtop.

Are the stalks behind the sun visor mirrors fitting in deep enough? Also the strips that they in totque down on are they LS and RS correctly fitted? I suggest a remedy that worked well for me to tension down the hardtop when I had it refined and sealed. 2of us couldn’t pull it down firmly enough to lock in the levers begin the seats. So I padded the sides of the hardtop and torqued it down with ratchet straps. Padded the doors and put the ratchet under the car. It pulled it down slowly and I locked it in. It settled and went on and off and sealed superbly.
