    Steering column rebuild

I'm planning on rebuilding my steering column over the winter months. I've read various posts on here about some difficulties with the outer-to-inner tube bushes and also about a preference for using the clamp ring at the top end to keep the bearings tight.
Do all the major suppliers provide the rebuild bushes/bearings from the same manufacturers, or are there some of better quality than others?
I only want to have to do this job once, so any recommendations will be gratefully received!
I read Bob Sharpe's excellent article on this in the recent Club magazine and the only thing I was unclear about was where the rollpin he referred to is fitted.
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Chris.
From experience I have found the clamp ring to be far superior to the original inverted star washer. As for the two bushes (153040) they can be of varying quality, but I can confirm (without prejudice) that the ones SOC spares sell are made from the same material as the originals.
    Mike.

The roll pin is in the pin that the column up down lever fits on, you have to remove it to disassembly going to tackle mine as well
