    Today's dumb question #2

Getting my engine and transmission back also confirmed my suspicion that the stiffening bars are absent - probably a previous owner left them in the bucket along with all of the other fasteners and bits that didn't find their way back on. My donor car has the stiffeners, though this has the BW35 box while my car has BW65. Looking at the parts manual, and also on Rimmers' website, it would appear that the stiffeners are common to both gearboxes - is that correct?

    Thanks.

I just worked on a 65. All it had was angle brackets between the sump & backplate. Only ever seen the 3 piece setup on a 35. Nowhere to bolt hb872 to on a 65 as far as I can tell.

Thanks. Yes, that's what I have - just the angle brackets. On the donor car the 218343 & 218344 are fixed to the gearbox using the two outer rear sump bolts - I haven't checked whether or not this would work on the 65.

Does make me wonder if they are needed?
