    Volt meter

Just come back from the meeting for the 40th run at Bromley.

Like you do, was looking and listening as we drove home and couldn't work out what the hell the volt meter was doing randomly between 11 & 12 volts. I know the cars fine and it has a new alternator and battery, any one else have the same thing or can shed any light on it or is it just another stag thing!

    Ian.

They are not very accurate but usually reliable. If it is wandering, either there is a bad connection to it, or you have a charging fault.

I'll put a meter on it and check the charging again for piece of mind but its probably as you say a connection somewhere.

      Thanks for that, Ian.

          Hi Andy,

When you say you put a meter on it do you mean across the Battery, did you do it running or with the engine off to get your 13.67volts!,

Although I need to check it again I'm certain there's not a charging problem, I had to change the alternatorlast October then the battery gave up soon afterwards so both are new. I read something somewhere that the battery gauges are notoriously inaccurate and can live with that. But wondered if anybody had experienced the same problem, IfI can I intend to drop the dash forward and put the multimeter on the back of the gauge to see what supply it's getting to prove it one way or another.

          Ian.

            Ian

My volt meter reads about 1 to 1.5 volts below the actual volt reading across the battery

                Cheer's for the info guy's.

I'll have a play at the weekend if I get the time and let you know what I find out although as I suspected it's looking like there's nothing to be concerned about and it's just another thing some Stags do!

                Thanks, Ian.
