    Front Suspension Shims

I recently removed one of the front suspension struts from my Stag. The ROM mentions the special spacer that goes on the top front bolt plus "shims as necessary". I don't recall any shims coming off when I removed the top front bolt but one came off when I removed the bottom front bolt, and then I found another on the floor after lifting out the strut. Should both of these have been fitted with the large spacer on the top front bolt or are they sometimes fitted to the bottom bolts?
    Cheers Steve

those shims take care of the caster and camber at the front so if think they can go on both depending on your set up. I has some on the top bolts only. I wonder how Triumph installed these on the production line. my wheels lean in at the top and I've decided to go with Chris Witors special lower bush. which he designed to take care of that adjustment more easily

The shims will only fit on the bottom bolts as the hole i.d. is too small for the top bolts.

When I replaced my stub axles earlier this year I knew that there were no shims fitted to my car. I ordered a selection (4 and 10 thou ISTR) and measured the camber, then fitted the required number of shims to correct it. Strange, but one side needed a lot more shimming than the other…

I'm in a similar predicament Richard. I've tried with the shims a bit and still have positive camber. As it stands, it looks like a 30's GP car. The LF is at +0.45° and the RF is at +1.52° with 0.10 shims. Not sure how many shims I can throw at it, so I've ordered up the Superflex adjustable control arm bushes. https://www.superflex.co.uk/proddeta...72-0137-80CKSS.

No shims on mine when I disassembled it but it was in specifications when I had it aligned recently.
