Blimey those exhaust manifolds look close to the body, hope you have left sufficient room for all that torque twist when blipping the throttle:P

Yeah they are close but in that pic they are not yet finished. The torque twist lifts the engine away from the car body where the exhausts are very close. Spin

I have been told by a few peoplethat my biggest problem will be not being able to get traction. Somehow I think I am going to have to get some heavy duty drive shafts made to handle the power as they are the weak link at the moment. The Datsun ones wont be suitable either.

I thought you were going the whole e30 backend route,or did i imagine that?

                    Cheers Steve

Steve, no you did not imagine that. I still have an E30 backend in my workshop. My mechanic said he wanted to fit the BMW LSD to the stag backend first as he said it should not be a problem. So we did that. :shock:I know you said that the stag backend does not transmit the power as well as the BMW so I guess I am going to find out. :?I am not convinced the BMW driveshafts would be strong enough either. Hi Spin, what sort of BHP will yours put out? I'm running around 300BHP through the BMW E30 rear end using a 3.64:1 LSD and BMW drive shafts.

So far I've covered around 7000 miles without a problem (the shafts and CV joints came from a 90,000 mile car and felt and looked fine so apart from new gaitersI didn't recondition them and instead put them straight on: so far so good!)

                          Regards, Steve.

                            G'day Steve,

the Gen111 LS1 I am using has a factory power rating of 302BHP (225kW) and that is what it will be initially. I am aiming for around 400BHP with Mafless tune and cam combination once I get it running and sorted out. Earlier Corvettes (around year 2000) used the LS1 andin Oz they are plentiful in the GM Commodore range of cars. The power potential is huge with these motors and there are many bolt ons. Blowers, Twin Turbos and NOS all give big power gains. There are street Commodores here with 600-800BHP..

I am just not sure how much power you can put through the BMW shafts. Its easy enough to get some heavy duty ones made if necessary though. With the weight of the Stag somewhere around 1200 - 1300kg the problem is going to be trying to gettraction.

My Stag is notfinished, still be a few weeks yet. Have the engine fitted and running, still playing around with exhausts, computers and new gauges etc. Spin
