    Quarter Light Rubbers

HI Guys, Been fitting my off side new quarter light rubber, and just had a terrible thought, These are handed , have I got this the right way round???, so please have a look at the photos to see if it is correct?, cant look at the old rubber as wet out last night in the rubbish which has been collected. also been looking for the aricticle that Dave put on the forum from the mag but can't find it.

    Thanks very much

Looks to me like you have them swapped over, as it is you'd never be able to open the quarter light.

Just put the quarter light frame back in to check. Of course, it would help if you said which side we are looking at - left or right.

In that case then, they look correct to me.

I changed these. The new ones fitted well.
I was unable to understand the problem having read the thread.....Not unusual though!!!!

                Ok they are handed.
The outer front part of the seal overlaps the frame.
The pictures dont make it clear if they are the right way around though...need pictures taken with better light.
I photgraphed the offside & put a fine red line around the seal overlapping as described. qtr_seal.jpg

I have now finished fitting my quarter light rubbers, I had no end of problems with the set I had, the membrane on the offside was over twice the thickness of the nearside (which made me think i had it in wrong) and the nearside also had some blisters near the top of the vertical , which were unsightly when the quarter light was closed. The offside also had a moulding block or tooling undercut block still firmly fixed to the rubber, which caused the rubber to bulge when you tried to open and close the quarter light window, to a point where the rubber was being pushed from it's groove in the frame. The quarter light was also hard to close because of the thickness of the membrane.

After a few e-mails discussions with my supplier I removed both quarter light rubbers (which is a game in it's self in a small garage) and sent them back for comment/replacement. My supplier said they where not right and the membranes where out of spec, so he would have a look at his stock and send me a good new set. When they came and i checked them it was like chalk and cheese, the new ones having similar membrane thicknesses and no blisters or blocks in the channel, so set about fitting both of these.

All seems well now, but had trouble with the weather strips which I will add to another thread.

Seems there was a problem with the mold but seems to have been correct now
