    Fitting oil gauge

I am wondering what is the best route to fit the oil pipe from the gauge into the engine bay on a LHD car (and any tips to make fitting easier). I am fitting it in place of the clock. How much of the dash will I need to remove?
Any advice on guidance much appreciated. Thank you!

I once had an incident on my Turbo Mini where the nylon line rested on the manifold and melted through, OK not much possibility on a Stag but once you experience a pool of oil on fire under the car and an apparent rapid loss of oil pressure twice shy! thought I had blown it!

Therefore I did not want nylon in the in the engine bay so I used the usual Tee, late TR6 block-gauge adaptor in that to an MGB braided flexi (Its about 9 inches and got the line into the cabin) to an MGB adaptor to a nylon line. I could have course bought one of those braided lines but they were expensive and I had some of the parts on hand.

I ran it directly into the car at the passenger footwell, there was a spare hole right there and the nylon line is easy to snake across the dash maybe over the heater and lose any excess in a coil. You should get away with just pulling the wooden instrument panel and maybe some carpet to access the hole..

first make sure u have long line. 1 piece is best. I thin 6 feet is a bit tight but cant recall. if u have a Smith's gauge don't use the generic pipes they don't work well on the gauge end. my auto with the ac vacuum tank 71 I routed it by the holes where the bonnet release goes and across the bulk head . on my non a.c. stag I used two pipes and found a hole just by the choke cable and fed there. loom much cleaner.

No need to remove the whole dash, just pull the instrument panel forwards enough to remove the clock... may need to disconnect the speedo drive.
Are you aware that an oil pressure gauge is known to us a a worry gauge?
I only use one for initial fire up after an engine rebuild.

Thanks all. Good to know I don't need to take all the dash off. I had a look with the instrument panel down, but couldn't see an obvious route so thought I would ask. I went to do it yesterday but was just too cold outside so will wait until it warms up a bit. I will try to make sure the line cannot melt!!
