Millers Oils do NOT recommend the CLASSIC 20 60 for the Triumph Stag ( Hmmm what do they know ?)

        Millers Oils recommends for your
        Triumph Stag (1970-1977) Stag [1970 - 1977]

Also the oil only has an API SJ rating and NO statement what their full Zinc in ZDDP amount is, no statement about what it does to Cats on cars either.

Millers do a Classic 10/60 fully synthetic oil with 1400ppm ZDDP,

Millers CFS 10W60 NT+ is very popular with historic rallyists - ideal for use in competition or modified engines, normally aspirated and turbo-charged, from 2 litres upwards.

but I was advised a few years ago that the Stag does not need that particular oil as the standard fully synthetic 10/60 has sufficient anti-wear additives for the Stag cam/ bucket arrangement. I personally have no special knowledge on this but I do measure my cams for sign of wear and there is none that I can measure so far (at 160K miles). I did run the engine on Castrol GTX for the first 20,000 miles of my ownership up to 80,000. Miller 10/60 fully synthetic for the last 80K.

Millers CFS 10w60 NT+ .....£65 for 5 Litres ...wha the...that's expensive ! more than £45 more than the Classic Oils Heritage for spec advantages I don't think I can use ? I'll stick.

              Micky,
I agree it is expensive, but if you change your oil every 2 years (which you can do with fully synthetics) then that is perhaps £20 per year extra over a standard oil change every year. The key factor is which oil saves wear. I have a 160K mile engine and hopefully I can get it to say 250K miles. A full engine rebuild is 2K plus so that is equivalent to 100 years of the extra cost. I.e. anything that saves a rebuild is worth to me!

I tried to get the Classic oils heritage, but they wouldn't ship outside the UK and is not available locally. Instead I bought Duckhams Q which has 1100 ppm ZDDP. It was only a bit more expensive and came in a classic metal can. Oh, and I got it shipped from the UK from a different vendor which proved cheaper than buying it locally.

While we are still on this subject, what about oil filters , i have the spin off conversion, but ive seen standard length ones and longer high capacity ones, and ones with or without non return valves .And also do K&N do one. When you go onto the various Stag parts retailers websites there doesnt seem to be much choice. I found a Borg & Beck standard size oil filter on Robsport for about £6 ex delivery but found the same model elsewhere for about £1.80 !!

I’ve been using these for the past couple of years: https://www.eurocarparts.com/search/501590017

Use their frequent discount code (currently FROSTY80) and they are much cheaper.
