Exhaust downpipes for Stag with ZF 4 speed auto conversion

Hi all and happy new year.
My 75 Stag runs a 4 speed ZF auto gearbox conversion. It was previously a BW35.
The exhaust has always been a bit of a make do and mend system with components from various suppliers meaning sleeving etc has been used. It therefore blows a bit when cold. I am looking to now go for a better fitting system.
I remember when Faversham Classics fitted the box conversion they had to re drill the mounting lugs on the downpipes (from the BW35) to get them to line up with the mounting bracket.
As such, what are the best downpipe options to order for a car with the 4 speed conversion - i.e - stick with those for BW35, or go for those for BW65?
    Car runs standard exhaust manifolds.
    Many thanks
    Mike

    Mike.
Why not ask Clive Tate or Russel Lewis who build them. Their contact details are on pages 2 & 3 of the magazine.

I fitted a ZF4 box to replace my BW65. Didn't try to connect the pipes to the gearbox case, they weren't connected to the BW65 before I started and never had an issue. They seem very well secured just with the manifold at the front end and silencers to the rear. - Alan

I still have the BW35 exhaust fitted with my ZF. Although I have got Phoenix stainless manifolds, so the front bends have been cut off to accommodate the stainless transition bends. I bent a couple of strips of stainless steel to go between the brackets on the exhaust pipes to the gearbox crossmember, which is the original Stag one.

My ZF replaced a BW65 - Clive repositioned the mounting point on my stainless system so I don’t thinks you can simply mix and match existing bits to fit.

Mine too, although I bought a new BW35 Double S exhaust from the Brothers last time they had a sale. I keep meaning to re-drill the gearbox crossmember for the fixing bolts but in the last 15,000 miles I seem to keep forgetting…

I managed to get hold of the Phoenix link pipes for my stainless steel manifolds,
As I converted mine to a zf at home. With the information kindly given by A!an Thomas
I just made them fit it was not hard to do.

my 65 was replaced by Clive with a zf and retained the stainless system that was fitted when I got the car. I wanted 4 tailpipes so went to vortex in grays essex and they made me a custom 2 inch system that has since had phoenix manifolds added that are ceramic coated inside and out, this keeps the cabin cooler in summer

Many thanks all for your input. It sounds like the most sensible path will be to purchase another set of down pipes for the BW35 as it's likely the gearbox mount has already been drilled to suit.

I was always unsatisfied with the standard pipes fit. Have had issues with all our specialists suppliers offerings. Mikalor or Ace clamps help. Otherwise a bespoke system is the way to go. Can’t stand SS systems that rust. Using 316 as now.
