    Engine Swap

    Hi,
I have a Mk1 manual stag with a Ford V6 which I want to replace with the Triumph V8.
I have sourced a donor car with a good engine but it is an automatic.
Do I need any additional parts to put the "auto" engine into my manual Stag?

    many thanks,
    Barry

I would have thought, Manual Gearbox Adapter Plate, Crank Spigot Bearing, Flywheel & Clutch, Propshaft and both Exhaust Down Pipes.

There may be other bits needed, but those above are the most important.

Clutch slave cylinder. Dowl bolts. this is assuming the Ford engine is mated to the stag box

        Hello Barry,

Welcome to the forum. I suggest that you try Tony White, who is a trader and contributer on here. He breaks Stags, so probably already has a list of parts needed for the conversion, and can probably supply them off the shelf.

My engine came from an automatic,

+1 but I think unless you are putting a J type gearbox in for a BW35 the downpipes may be OK. 4speed, A type and BW 35 use the same pipes. Also make sure you have the appropriate gearbox mounting.
Plus of course a clutch pedal, master and slave, but I’m sure you know those!

He already has a manual car, so will have the Pedal /Master and probably the slave.

              Duhhh..

Yes, I was thinking auto to manual.. same as I did then.. no problem! Just check the crank and make sure it has a pilot bearing, backplate/clutch. I think my carb linkage is different as it was originally auto but it works fine.

Thanks to you all for the replies, its a little more complicated than I expected!
I will take Dave's advice and contact Tony White to see if he has the bits off the shelf.
                Many thanks again,
                Barry
