    Key Blanks

If anyone is needing new key blanks for the Stag, then I can recommend OS Keys. The correct blank is the UNI19: https://www.oskeys.co.uk/silca-uni19-key-blank-n16kb

I ordered a couple on Monday afternoon and they arrived yesterday. Total price for two: £2.75 including postage and VAT.

They can cut them for you, but they will require an original to copy.

Mistakenly, I thought I could take them to my local Timpsons (10-minute walk away) to have them cut, but no. I was told it was Timpson company policy not to cut customer's blanks. Did they stock these blanks? No, but I might be able to source some, was the reply.....

Oh, well. 10 minutes with my file set and bench vice and I had one cut and working, so it is a DIY job.

Got my from local cobblers/key cutters. Timpson could get one but were expensive, I think it was £12 or £15 all cut. Local cobbler rummaged around and got one off his board. Boot and glove box keys off the internet by key number for about £3 each by next day delivery as well.

Seems as if a more authentic leyland style key blank (with plastic) is only available from the USA now... sign of the times
There are 2 secrets to staying on top :- 1. Don't give everything away.
      2.

Seems like it. I searched everywhere for one like that from the U.K. at a reasonable price, but the only OE style ones I could find are in the USA and expensive. RB sell exactly the same ones that I bought but at 6x the price (£4.50 v 75p)

          Hi All,
Couple of questions I need help with please.
My Audi was stolen from my driveway in December with the only set of keys to my Stag in the glovebox, any ideas much appreciated.
Also, my car was first registered on 19/1/78, is this one of the last?
          Many thanks,
          Jim

I just got a leyland key in USA from Triple-C $10. It worked out fine, especially as our local mom and pop hardware store cut it for free!

Could it be worth a few people clubbing together to get a few into U.K.?

This a long shot but when I started my restoration and stripped out the front lights I found a new set of keys stuck in the n/s side light. I think this was for the dealers to know. See pic below. As for your car registration date you need to check you chassis no on the VIN plate. My car was registered on 09.03.78 and is 1741 cars away from the final car number which is LD45722.

Most of the key barrels have a number stamped on them, at least for the boot, doors and and glovebox. Not sure on the Ignition key/ fuel door.

My Heritage certificate has key numbers, as long as nobody changed the locks they should give you the info you need to get keys.
