Clutch lever

Am I going daft today are my eyes deceiving me?
In the workshop manual 33.25.12 the clutch operating lever comes off the end of the cross shaft on the near side of the bellhousing. Should this not be the off side as that is where the clutch slave cylinder is?
Once I replace the gearbox I don’t want to have to remove it again to change it over.
