    Tyre choices

I need some new tyres for my Stag, can anyone make recommendations ? I don't drive far or fast, so don't need the really expensive options.

Comments appreciated, I am running mk11 alloys with195/70/14 tyres

a confusing amount of info is available via search. But as I have just trawled through acres of it mid last year these are what I bought, Firestone Multihawk 2 175/80 R14 H (88)

More or less the correct diameter, correct speed rating and not a brand that manufactures ditchfinders

don't skimp on brakes or tyres

from Black Circles I got them for £71.66 per corner! fitted at my local friendly tyre centre and with free tracking.

Though these guys couldn't balance them on the stud holes which is more or less essential on stag alloys as the centre hole isnt

I’m on 195/70-14. Just about the correct diameter as well.

Yes, good point, make sure the place that installs them can balance on the studs, they need to have an adapter to do that on modern machines.

Khumo from South Korea do a 1957014 in HR rating. Regardless of how fast you may drive it is best to keep to the specified speed rating if you can. I bought 5 of these for my Stag a couple of years back for around £65-00 each inc balance, fitting and vat. Khumo is widely fitted to Hyundai and Kia cars.

I had Firestone Roadhawk 185/65/15 T rated fitted to my Minilite 8 Spoke Replicas on the drive in October last year between lockdowns.
From memory, they were about £55 a tyre.

Avon ZT7 185/70's from Camskill £43 ish a corner. I went from 195/70 and I think they look better and the speedo is more accurate

+1 for 185/70 Avons - I got mine from National Tyres £51 each corner fitted and everything included in that price - Great Service too. Need to order online for best prices

+2 for the Avons. I paid £300 for 4 fitted and balanced incl. tubes for the wires.

Avons are named RainExpert or RainSport - so you need rain to use them!
