Has anyone used these as a direct replacement for the originals, if so have they more adjustment so that you can actually see what’s behind you, and reverse using ten.

I used a set of those for a few years, realistically no improvement at all on the standard ones. The reason I got them was one of my mirrors got damaged while in storage and was unusable. And it was cheaper to buy these mirrors than why a replacement stag mirror glass to replace the broken one.
i’ve now fitted a pair from and XJS jag that has adjusters which sit inside the car. They are slightly bigger than the originals but you can actually see behind you, the whole reason for having mirrors. Other than being able to adjust the mirrors easily if the mirrors ever get knocked you can just push them out to where they lock and your vision has not been altered.

These also come with electrical adjustment but they are very expensive, around £120 for the pair not including electrical adjusters a further £60.

Yeah, have to agree that stag doors are different shape to that of the XJS Jag. So I did a trial fit, and locked how they sat on the doors. They looked like a sad droopy pair of ears of a dog that’s been told off for pooing in the wife’s boots/shoes ( even though you find it hilarious until you find out that that those “ these old things” are brand new and cost £600).
anyways with a bit of Pythagoras and the angle of dangle I sort of worked out that they needed lifting up somewhat. So with a bit of natures finest, a block of wood, I machined it to make it have the correct angle. Was a lot of trial and error, fitting and refitting on an off the car but I finally got it to sit correctly. Then got the wooden spacer and covered it in carbody rap so nobody is any wiser, other than those reading this.
yours, I believe have a different way of fastening on to the car, with mine I could use the rear most hole of the original stag fitting. But the foremost whole that’s a really tap a hole. Also I had to drill a massive hole for the controller to go through. So it’s sat correctly and was going to be strong/lasting I used a rivet nut gun with a M6 counter sunk bolt.
i’ll upload some pictures of it in the morning, when I can be bothered to go outside into the garage and uncover the car.

I too have fitted Jaguar XJS electric heated door mirrors. The plinths you require are XJS face lift model mirror plinths. They are available from S G Barrett Jag Specialist. They are about £10 each. You may have to shave a little material from the underside depending on the position on your stag door.

Maynard has done quite a few other quite subtle and thoughtful mods to his car including remote c/ locking, cruise control , heated seats, 4 speed auto conversion, some maybe not for the purist but all well thought out and done to an extremely high standard. He would I'm sure give advice if asked, he's quite a clever chap.
