Two questions: One on vapour blasting one on jackshaft housing bore

Hi all, looking for advice again!
    1) Thinking of getting the engine timing cover (plus other bits) vapour blasted but I've no experience of this medium. Good idea or not? Does it need laquoring (or similar) to protect the finish, or does it need frequent polishing/cleaning to keep it looking good?

    2) Secondly, have been told my jackshaft housing could do with being machined but the engineers are unable to bore it. I thought i recently read on the forum the proceedure was originally done by Tony Hart - but i've done a search and can't find it. Could someone please explain the issue this causes, what's needed to rectify it - and where I can get it done?
    Thanks in advance as ever
    Cheers

    1. No idea about Timing Cover, but why would you want it shiny anyway ??.

    2. I have had two blocks line bored & sleeved on the front jackshaft bearing, they were both worn slightly oval & badly scored.
caused poor oil supply to the camshafts and lower oil pressure.

Both were sorted by Coventry Classic Engines Ltd - 02476 456637.

Yes you would need to Laquer the timing cover to keep the shine

Many thanks for the info Neil - very helpful. Doing a full car refurb so I'm not looking to make the cover "shiny", but as it's 50 years old i'd like to freshen it up - ie get it looking as it was when new, to match the rest of the car. That being the case I'd like to know whether i'm going down the best route to achieve it that's all.
        Cheers

I had one vapour bead blasted. Came out nice & stayed nice. Didn’t have any lacquer. It wasn’t corroded.
