    Engine, Unleaded or not.

Hi all, i bought my Stag without any history about the reconditioned engine which was apparently fitted between 4 and 6 years ago. It looks clean and has in my opinion been changed but the problem i have is the fella i bought it off never knew if the car needed Unleaded or lead additive. I am working on the car to bring it up to scratch so have not run it much at all but when i do it runs sweet. I am using Unleaded petrol at the moment. For now its not a major problem but soon i need to know one way or the other. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Tommy

Almost certainly ok for unleaded if it is that recently rebuilt.

Unleaded quality valves have been produced for well over 20 years now, so unless it was rebuilt with unknown ebay parts there will be no problems.

Valve seats are good for unleaded from the factory regardless of year of production.

The advice that I got on this question from some very knowledgeable club members is that all Stag V8 engines can run ok on unleaded without additives. This bears out what Neil has said.
