waxoyling & felt underlay

Evenin' All. I'm going to wax the insides of the doors & sills, there's prob quite a bit of dust from when the car was rubbed down/sprayed, I would think it's best to remove as much as poss?
Should there be underlay under the floor mats & the sides of the sills? The floor mats I have seem to very thick & a good quality & not worn.
I don't think the underlay would make much difference to the quietness while driving with the top up! (no hardtop).

Paul the carpet mats should come with an underlay front to back. If you’re cleaning under the carpet I would lay some of the adhesive soft black resin and silver foil layered deadened. It works well m. Put it in the doors as well and under the back seat.

Rust protection has moved on a bit as well. I use Bilt Hamber’s dynax S50 and UC. It’s darned good.

Here’s the rear edge of the boot floor that I did with it last week. It covers really well and all the reviews rate it very highly.

easy to apply with the aerosol and long straw to reach into the nooks and crannies, the modern ziebart I reckon. Worth a look

There’s a brand called Dodo which seems well regarded in the VW van world otherwise I think Woollies and car builder solutions will sell it.

Google the brand name and you may find a local supplier. Alternatively find yourself a really high end car entertainment installer. They will use something very similar to cut down on vibrations

fDuring my rebuild I used "Dynamat" for bulkheads and floor. Very pleased. Supplier was " Car Builder Solutions"

Thanks guys, I don't think I'll bother with the underlay, it's quite expensive & I can't see it making that much difference, especially with the wind noise that occurs with hood (seals have been replaced) I'll just leave my hearing aid out!
I've got a litre of the waxoyl, I'll try the Dynax when I've run out.

I went with some “patches”of dynamat type to replace the tar type pieces that were there before to deaden the panels, then covered with 1/4” non stickyback foam/aluminium underlay glued on with contact adhesive spray. Quite effective without the huge cost..

Thanks Richard. The one I used is Car Builders Deadener. It looks and works the same. Probably is but branded differently here. I got a little wooden roller with the mats and that helped because I could see the foil flatten too so it sticks well.

Thanks trunt, I've still got the original stuff that's stuck to the floor, no need to remove it really.
