Another front spring post, sorry

Chaps - I plan to replace my front springs - would I be correct that you can remove the whole strut by undoing the 3 top support bolts to the inner wing and the 4 lower strut bolts only and then lift them out without compressing the springs ? many thanks

Yes, you can.
You will have to push the lower suspension arm down a bit to actually get them out of the arch,
also may help if you undo the anti rollbar drop link and undo / loosen the tie rod at the body end.

You can remove the strut that way,but your still need spring compressors to remove the spring from the strut, when its out of the car,one more thing to be carefull of when removing the lower bolts on the strut,by the caliper end, theres some sims carefull you dont lose them or not see where they come from

Thanks Dave, yes I only wanted to avoid having to put the compressors on before removal and use them off car to replace the actual springs - will look out for the shims - good advice,
