MK 1 RH Head transfer housing adapter size

Hi Folks,

I'm fitting a mk 1 transfer housing to the RH head, I'm wanting to add the link mod between the heads. Can anyone let me know what size adapter I need for the transfer housing please.

There s a thread here somewhere as I did this. I have a Mk1 housing with a blank. it's 3/8" BSP. if you dont have that hole, you can use anything I suppose. The hoses however are 1/2" in diameter.

I have just fitted the Grampian Stags cylinder head cooling mod, at the same time as a Stagdad belt driven water pump.
My RH transfer housing had a blanking bolt fitted and it was really tight.
I already had the inlet manifold removed and it gave me space to get my trolley jack handle onto the end of the socket bar. but even then it took all my effort to get it loosened off.
I was going to remove the hose adapter from the water pump cover, that gets blanked off when the Stagdad pump is fitted, but it was really tight, so I cut it out so as not to damage the cover.
I ordered and fitted 148394 hose adapter from Paddocks to the transfer housing.

Hi Craig,

I actually bought all the bits to do this mod recently including the drill and tap to modify the RH transfer housing so I could fit the same hose adaptor as on the LH one. If you need to borrow them you’re more than welcome...

A question. What is the purpose of this conversion, and how does it work? I haven't come across it before.

Only relevant if you have the heater set to hot, otherwise it's pointless.
Mine spends most of it's time with the heater off (set to cold).

I have electronic sensors in both transfer housings, accurate to within 0.5c, they never differ by any more than
3-4c. Left one in in the orginal temp sensor hole, right one is in the equivalent position on right housing.

Unless there is a misprint in the Grampian Stags reference, surely when "At running temperature", the two heads should be at around 70 deg c. and not 43? My IR thermometer shows both heads on my Stag to be running at around 76, without any plumbing modifications. (Except a H.T.!). This would be expected with the thermostat I use.
