Hi all, can somebody advise if it is normal for carbs to be adjusted for summer/winter running? My car is an auto, mixture is fine according to colour tune. In the summer, ticks over when warm at about 500 in drive about 800 in park. I'm finding in this cold weather I need to slightly increase the tickover on both carbs and run on the smallest amount of choke all the time to prevent stalling at tickover. Does the cold affect the mixture? When the weather warms up it will be ticking over a bit higher so I'll have to adjust it down again. Can the colour tune show the right colour burn but the mixture be lean? Many thanks. M

I sometimes have to tweek the idle screws on mine a bit for winter, then back again when weather warms up.
As for colourtune, bunsen blue is hard to determine exactly, so you could be a bit lean.
Have you tried the piston lift method of mixture checking as described in the ROM, it does say
that if it stalling occurs to richen mixture by 1/4 turn on the needles.
Neil.
