    S.O.C.T.F.L

Following on from Whitestags post about the under bonnet pad price etc, I thought we might want to put our heads together and come up with some suggestions for parts SOCTFL should invest into making for us.

Personally I would re manufacture of some of the NCA items for the hard top, New jack shafts to correct specification and maybe front and rear trims badges etc that may get damaged in any accident.

What would you like to see?

Should they also invest in parts that improve beyond the original design ie Manifold complete with fuel injection ready to bolt on?

    Food for thought anyway.

      Hi Nick

      NCA means Not Currently Available.

Yes top strut mountings and bushes would also benefit 2000/2500/2.5 owners as well!

Maybe new Control Arms as well would be good instead of the recon ones we keep using?

How about a coolant expansion/header tank (with associated bracketry and connectors) designed to fit our Stags?

Good suggestions, but the tooling fund will only consider standard NLA parts

              Hi Bob

Does this mean that the rubber/plastic edge seal that sits under the chrome trim on the rear and side edges of the hard top are a viable part for SOCTFL?

What parts are under consideration at the moment apart from the current cylinder head project?

Are you a member of SOCTFL? If so how do you become a member and what is involved?

Sorry for all the questions but this is interesting to me.

                Stuart,

Some info here on our own website: http://www.stag.org.uk/index.aspx?pid=151

There are occasional updates in the magazine. We (SOC Members) are all shareholders.

The main remit for consideration of parts is those which are unavailable, or of poor quality, and which could stop cars from being used. Hence some panels andcylinder heads. OE quality wiper blades were produced last year. Also under consideration, I believe, were ignition switches as these are fairly important and good ones in short supply.

The hard top plastic trims you refer to are far from essential, so I would be surprised to see these under consideration yet.

I am sure any SOCTFL committee member reading this thread would be able to update us on other possibilities. There was a call for a volunteer for the position ofSOCTFL Publicity officer through this Forum a few months ago, but nothing came of it. I volunteered, but heard no more.

Interesting discussion, but what's actually NCA at the moment that would stop you from running your Stag? It'd be interesting to compile a list. Then you could add the NCA for the nice to have parts...

Or are we talking about poor quality parts that are available but nowhere near as good as OEM. If SOCTFL start making these will owners pay the premium over the other parts? I would, but I wonder how many others would as well.

Personally I'd like to hear a lot more about what SOCTFLare considering. Perhaps a periodic update on the forum?

Are the top mountings currently NCA? Rimmers and Robsport both list them. Robsports ever got a rollerbearing version!

How about this for an idea? SOCTFL get in touch with the suppliers of Stag parts to see what non standard partsthey are selling best / most ofand, if they can, supply funding to tool up for those. Maybe they do.

I see in the page DJT has linked to that at the bottom it says

"MORE DETAILS OF WHAT IS AVAILABLE IS IN THE MEMBERS AREA OF THE WEBSITE".

I have had a hunt around and I can't find it. Have I missed it or is it still being developed.?

I think it would be usful to know what the SOCTFL has already done. If Stag owners are more aware of what is already available then more of these better quality bits are likely to be sold so more revenue can be generated to put back into the development of other bits to keep the cycle going. just a thought.

You can find a list of all the parts funded by the SOCTFL so far in the magazine on page 24.
