    Rattling / vibration coming from back exhaust box

    Gent's took the old beast out for a good run 2 x days ago, and gave it a wee bit of welly all be it for about 5 miles.

    When I returned to the garage, I noticed a noise coming from the last box section of exhaust. Initially thought that the clamp had worked itself loose, and thus the rattle. But today on closer inspection it seems to be coming from within the box itself.

    Going by the visual appearance this exhaust section is not very old as it still has a sticker on it.

    Any ideas how I can stop the internal rattle / vibration

    Hi Mike, it sounds as if a baffle has worked loose, the only choice I had was to replace the silencers on my old stainless system, Paddocks came up with the best price. I hope someone comes up with a solution, but to be honest, I don't think there is one. Cheers, Martin.

      Thank's Martin, this is a bit of a bummer. I should'nt have raced the little bugger in the Corsa, with all the add on body parts and Carlos Fandango exhaust system, like two soup tins sticking out of the back end.

      I do believe I really should grow up!!!!

          HELL NO ! don't do that, what a bloody aweful thought, growing old is obligatory - growing up is not ! I don't bother with kids in corsets, BMWs are much more fun. Martin.

            Martin, I've only had the car for about 9 months so am starting at the bottom with Corsa's and going to work my way up LOL.

            Any idea roughly how much a tail box would be, hope this was'nt an expensive prank ughhhhhhhhh.

              It would have happened anyway, don't blame yourself.The Stag only has one silencer in each pipe and it's in the middle. I've had mine a few years now so my price wouldn't help. Paddocks are listing stainless at £55.00 each, plus VAT I expect. If you smack them quite hard with an open handyou should hear which one's ratteling, though changing both is good practice. Martin.

                Yes, did that Martin and it is the left hand side, what a bummer. Just wondering of I could take it off and drill down through the top and maybe pop rivet it, but not sure what it looks like inside, and would this work?? Failing that I'm going to have to bight the bullet once again. My wife will be spewing forth fire and brimstone AGAIN !!!

                  Some chap in a crappy old Vauxhall decided to cut me and overtake from the left on a slip road that merged onto a duel carriageway:X, not to let him get away with it I put my foot down.....he left me standing.:shock:

                  How embarrassing!!the new flamethrower,dizzy, leads, plugs, and Weber slept through it. I think the old girl needs a tune-up.

                  Its timeI took it to a professional Tune up place. There is one in Ruislip West London which is supposed to be the Dogs scrotum in tuning.

                    Mike, you would probably have to drill a few holes to find the baffle. On the other hand if you've nothing to lose why not. Martin.
