    Brake warning light

Hi fellas, on Friday i fitted a new wheel bearing on the drivers side and all went well, obviously the calliper had to come off and the brake cylinder needed to be pushed back slightly to re insert the pads.
Went out Saturday morning, everything fine then the brake warning light came on. After about 3miles it went out but this morning, it's back on.
Has anyone had a similar issue, plus what dot brake fluid do i need for top up or will any universal do ?
    Thanks
    Mike

Maybe the shuttle in the PWDA shifted as it was taking up the slack, try re-centering it, I think people use a small screwdriver?

Dot4 is fine as long as nobody has changed it to silicone.. which would probably be dyed purple.

Yes, I agree its purple when it goes in but changes colour to become clear after a period of time, so not so obviously silicone then....

My experience also - last time I topped up thought I'd got it wrong

Mike, Are you talking about the PDWA connector? I thought it could be connected either way round as both pins in the switch are linked and the circuit is made through the switch - on my '76 car the brake warning comes on when the feed to the switch is earthed.

That's odd as it seems to work fine since i swopped the plug around. When switching on the ignition the brake light is dim and the oil light come on and on start up they go out . Oh, they all seem to try us these cars.

                    Mike, your car is haunted

I have had a few like this, nearly always resolved by shutting the garage door on the ungrateful beast and retiring to enjoy an exceptionally large Gin and Tonic.

Seriously though, sounds like your PWDA shuttle is a bit on the edge, and maybe pushing the pistons in on the callipers shifted it so that it completed the circuit and the light lit, so to speak. After a bit of driving it all returned back to normal, which I would expect if no fluid is lost

My PWDA has not been connected for the last 18 years.. eek I know
