    Electrical Gremlin - help needed

Occasionally the Rev Counter. Fuel Gauge and Temperature Gauge stop working only to come back to life a few minutes later. I thought it might be the voltage stabiliser so I bought and fitted a new one.
The problem persists, however today I was turning right and indicating and noticed that the indicators were not working either. After looking at the wiring diagram it seems the problem is further up the line but I cannot find where to look as there does not appear to be a fuse for this circuit in my car. MK 1 RHD Manual.
    Any clues ?

All of those are fed from fuse 3/4 "ignition control" (it also feeds the stop lights and the washer motor)

I would start by checking out that fuse, the fuse-holder often goes bad where the rivet holding the fuse clip gets loose causing an intermittent just like you are experiencing.

I would not recommend this as it can remove the protective plating from the surfaces.

            Zebracer,
I had a similar problem that went on for ages, eventually I pinned it down to a suspect fuse. Probably a dry joint, Replaced it anfd never had the problem again.
            Good luck,
            Brian

Thanks for he help. Nothing was loose so cleaned all contacts and so far all now OK except the panel lights now don't work. As always one step forward and another one back, joys of classic ownership.

                In very very small quantities.
And if the rivets are stretched, it won't help at all.

The other thing to check is the earth connection to the back of the panel - you say the lights have gone out now, that sounds more like a loose or detached earth connector. Black wire....
