    Clutch master cylinder pipe

    Hello
Last night I had to replace the red nylon pipe that goes from the clutch master cylinder to the clutch slave. I replaced it with the white nylon one that is supplied by Robsport and Rimmers, as well as a few others. I found this too short as it will not reach the clutch bell housing bracket that keeps it away from the exhaust pipe.
Has any body used a better fitting replacement item or is it a case of getting a second hand replacement? I note Paddocks sell a braided pipe but thought I'd ask on here before spending alot on a pipe that again will be too short.

Any help or advice is appreciated.
    kind regards,
    Lagnakeil

PS I couldn't access the LD Parts website last night for some reason.

I bought a braided one from paddocks for a LHD stag. it is a straight line. I had to buy two elbows to make it fit as it was too short. else it would kink when connected. these elbows alone cost as much as the pipe.

I've just ordered the pipe from SOC as the original wouldn't fit the new clutch MC (seperate posting).

Will let you know how I get on.

Please do Roy. Somebody must make one that is long enough. I managed to get hold of LD Parts today and theirs is the same as Rimmer / Robsport.
The problem with the original pipes now is they are up to 50 years old so failure is inevitable.

Pictured below is the new pipe from SOC alongside the old one (no expense spared on the ty-raps), there is a difference of just over an inch, but it connected ok in mine and I was able to angle the pipe away from the exhaust and tighten to keep it there.

Attached some pictures of it in place, not great as I was trying to hold the phone and light and keep my head out of a puddle of brake fluid....

But the pipe goes past the exhaust and keeps close to the oil filter heading up to the MC, hope this helps

            Hello Roy!
This is brilliant thank you! I do have the same pipe as you and it is routed the same way. I estimated that it would need to be another 1" longer to reach the bell housing bracket to hold it out of the way.
At the moment, the cable is tightened up out of the way of the exhaust like yours. I will keep an eye on it for now. If it needs to be clipped out of the way I will get an extension piece made up from brake pipe and try that like sujitroy did.

            Thankyou once again!

No problem glad to help. Mine old pipe wasn't clipped in at all.

One big upside to the braided pipe is that it can be easier to bleed. The clutch is notorious for being difficult - the advantage of the braided pipe is that for a start it's a lot more flexible, and you can pinch it off (in the same way you would on a pipe going to a brake caliper) to make bleeding easier.

flying frames. Neil mentions a good way to bleed the clutch. undo bolts holding it on . Rotate so bleed screw is at 12 o clock and then bleed. bolt back on

I tried to rotate the slave until it was at 12 oclock position when it had the red pipe on but couldn't get it truely upright. The red pipe needed to be longer. If I could find someone to make a pipe for me it would be longer than the red pipe to make it easier to bleed.

Many moons ago (I sold my manual Stag in 2008 after 18.5 years) I popped into the Goodridge factory around the corner and they made me up a clutch pipe using their s/steel braided pipe (similar to the type they used for my brake flexible pipes a few months earlier). Any helpful hydraulic hose company should be able to do similar if you give them an original to work from.
