New generator not charging

Finally the spring has come so I can use the Stag! We have done a total rebuild of the engine, plus engine bay repaint etc. We also fitted at alternator relocation kit from E.J.Ward. We are using the extra long wire from Wards. I have confirmed with a handheld voltmeter that the alternator is not charging.

All wires were removed or pulled out of the engine bay for the respray, then cleaned and put back so I realize I have messed up something. But, I read about the alternator sometimes needing to be magnetized? Any advice is appreciated!

Alternators don't require that as they are AC current generators & have internal diode packs to make DC.
What you read was for (acrchaic) Dynamos.

Ok, so the problem is probably elsewhere then... I hoped for a easy fix!

I'm guessing its connected to the main starter terminal - is the connection OK?

Ohh extra long wire from Wards.. still are the 2 connections at the battery cable good? Plug fully seated?

One thing to check it to make sure the ignition warning light comes on and is not blown. That can affect the alternator. Don't use an LED for that.

Finally tested a bit today, the solutions was easy!

The supplied bracket had thick paint and that isolated the Alternator from the block... A little cleaning with the Dremel, som vaseline and now it charges as it should again!
