Good morning. My Stag doesn’t currently have the s/steel trim under the doors running from the front wheel to the rear. I like the look so I purchased a new set with fittings. Before I embark on the installation I would very much appreciate any advice. Thanks Brett

If you can, go and have a good look at a Mk2 Stag with a factory fitted set to see how and where they fit. I would fit a fixing strip to a sill cover, and then offer the pair of them up to the car so that they fit neatly, particularly under the sill where the cover will be screwed in place. Then mark where the upper fixing strip needs to be attached. This is at least a two man job to get things properly aligned. Then fit the top strip, tuck the sill cover in to it along its full length, and fit the screws under the sill to hold it in place. I would recommend putting some mastic at either end of the sill trim to prevent water getting behind it.

Are you talking about the thin strip that runs along the raised swage line, or the full sill cover? If it is the thin strip, as fitted to early Mk2 Stags, then this fits along the centre of the raised swage line and comes with plastic sealing trims for either end. It is fitted with plastic fixings. Just make sure that the holes are painted once drilled, or that you use some form of anti-corrosion fluid when you insert the clips. Sill Strip.jpgDave
