    Water Pump refurb! Failure

    Good afternoon Boys n Girls
Hope your all enjoying a sunny Saturday
I've just started up after a water pump refurb and it's failed . A little oil arrived in the V first followed by water, just tickle of each, but it appeared in a matter of seconds!
I was succesful on a previous attempt some ten years ago and so was confident doing this again, that will teach me.
The refurb kit came from Rimmers and it's a six vane impeller.
Now, do you Guys feel it is something I have done incorrectly on the re-build, or can these cast components wear out, meaning I have to order a new water pump complete? As far as I'm aware I did all that i should, including resurface the bottom face of the impeller so it's a good seal. Over to you.
    Thank you in advance.

Not a job I have yet done myself, but I have certainly read and been told that new water pump seals sometimes need "running in". That might account for the water leakage. Is it still leaking oil after that initial amount?

Hey Wilf, thank you for your input.
The oil on second sart up does now appear to have stopped leaking just a trickle of water, so I'm hopeful that you are spot on the mark. I will go out for a 20 minute run in the sun and take a look at the V on my return and report back.

If there isn't a little water in your Vee, some say you can't have a Stag, lol.

              Good morning all,
You'll be pleased to hear after my small melt down and tantrum yesterday that you were all on the mark. 52 miles running in and no oil or water in the V. Happy days, now just another eight or nine jobs to sort out before Silverstone. Cheers Guys, as ever more reliable than a Haynes manual.
