MOT exemption

When I taxed my Stag back in January I declared it MOT exempt. I have just checked on the Government website and it is still showing MOT expired, with a note that it may be exempt. Is this normal? Are there any members with MOT exempt cars that show something different on the website.
Is it OK for me to drive the car as it is? I was intending to wait until the end of summer to get it MOT'd as this is more convenient for me, gives me all winter to get it fixed should it fail.

Mine shows the same on the MOT web site as well. Been like it a few years now.

I taxed mine this year after having in on SORN, to take it off SORN it needed to be taxed, but I needed to change it to historic to make it road tax exempt. The process also needed to update an MOT was no longer needed and you could only do this at a vehicle taxing post office with a valid insurance certificate. I filled in the correct form off their web site, added historic to the log book and went in thinking this was all going to go wrong. Couldn't have been easier, the young lady behind the counter knew exactly what it was, checked the form and said the car was now taxed but the DVLA web site could take up to 5 days to update, picture of the search is attached.
Does your log book state historic? (I'm still waiting for my updated one back)
Mine is listed as MOT no results returned.

To me a MOT test before you use it over the summer/after you have worked on it over the Winter is the safer option in case something still needs fixing.

I don't disagree, just getting to the point where I can actually drive it is taking longer than planned.....
