Hi all. Just wanted to share an experience I had with an K&N performance air filter number 33-2011 which is marketed as a good replacement filter for Stag mk1 and mk2. It’s quite expensive . Basically , in order to get it to fit you need to remove the gasket that it is in the filter box , then get a craft knife and trim the rubber of the filter itself so that it fits snug. It may be also the case that ,once fitted, you may need to adjust the carbs as as the car may run a bit rich. Soz if you already know this but thought I would share

May I ask if you have had any issues with the off-the-shelf (ready to fit ) less expensive ones, made by any of the major filter manufacturers? The K+N one must be restricting the air flow somewhat if you have had to weaken the carburettors. How much more efficient are they at air filtration?

THE WORLD'S BEST AIR FILTER™ FOR OVER 50 YEARS
They are good and worth it, as it says it lets more air in, so you must have misunderstood EJ Ward. As I don’t think they would make a error like that. I’m also surprised that you have to trim the filter to make it fit.
