diff extension bearing

Hi just bought a diff from robsport and I’m going to refurb the diff extension, I’ve bought a new bearing but was wondering if this will be a inferior part as it was £14 plus vat does anyone know where I can get a robust bearing? ...thanks dean

You'll be changing that again in a year I'm afraid. You need to get a quality bearing - either of the ones Sujit mentions are good.

Are you uprating/strengthening the diff extension?

Yes looking to get it strengthened, can you buy them already done or do you know where I can get the bits to weld myself

Yes, you can buy them pre-done, LD parts used to do them. Probably others, too, sure other FMs will chime in.

I took mine to a local steel fabricator, payment was a contribution to the Tea break fund

Got my strengthened nose extension exchange from EJ Ward, with new RHP bearing. Outstanding service from them.

If you can weld, have access to a welder, either stick or mig, it's a simply job, just 4 pieces of flat steel bar. I've done both mine without any problems.

Thanks Ian, I can weld but just ordered one from wards as it;s quite a reasonable price. . Getting a bit expensive now though Ive just had the tate and Lewis gearbox and have ordered a new 345 diff

Hi Dean, I to am running a 3.45 behind, a J overdrive. It makes the gearing high enough (hoon days over, well just about) hence having done both the 3.7 and 3.45 with SKFs.
Also rear is fully poly bushed with CCD CV half shafts and uprated outer bearings. A pair of Panhard transverse links. Self designed and fabricated. Gaz adjustable gas shocks. Stag goes like its on rails
