Is this really needed?

Hi All,

I took the T-bar off to fit the trim around the windscreen and when I lifted it to put back a plate fell off one of the ends (see photo). I've checked and there isn't a similar plate for the other side and it appears they are no longer available from the usual suspects. Any views on whether it's really necessary? TIA.

Is if for a mk1. sometimes I feel they changed things or remove things for mk2

Yes, a Mk1 but the parts book gives numbers for Mk1 and Mk2 cars so presumably it was changed somehow.

extra hole for the interior lamp wires?

Nope, they come out lower down the B post. Good try though

On the mk 2 the wires go right up the B post and feed into the T bar.. as the light is in there. There is an extra hole for the wires on the right side. So the difference between a mk1 and mk2 plate could possibly be that extra hole.

Mine has those plates both sides, they do help a bit with tucking in the material of the T bar but are probably not essential.
