Those are the gearbox crossmember mounting studs which protrude underneath the car. They are only held in place by goo. Once Gearbox crossmember is freed, they can be simply pushed out.

Dasadrew, so these are only bolted on from the underside??. Do they take a lot of weight. As you say they are only stuck on with goooo, sorry just a wee bit confused bare with me!!!

They are brackets consisting of two studs which are welded to a banana shape metal plate. There are two holes in the floor pan on each side. These holes are smeared with putty and the plate with studs is dropped in from inside the car, so the studs protrude out of the bottom of the car. The gearbox crossmember is then placed over these studs with a set of spacers and plastic bushes and two nuts each side bolt the cross-member up to the floor underside.

I bought my floors from SOC Spares; they were full length front to back but I cut them in half for ease of fitting. There's a few not very good pictures here:

              http://www.nickargue.org.uk/floors.htm

I must say the fit was superb; they matched the old floors 100%.

(be prepared for some inner sill work if the floors are shot)

Cheers for that, yeh your right the inner sills will require sorting although the drivers side looks worse when you look mthrough the holes in the inside of the car.

How do I go about getting SOC spares. Who do I contact and how long do they take to arrive. Have spoken to guy at Paddocks who assures me there panels are a really good fit

Is this a SOCTFL panel or another make? The pressing look completely different from the original floor with the long vertical one missing completely.

Unfortunately can't help with contacting SOC Spares , but I would have hoped someone else sold the floors with the correct profile. I think I remember being told the SOC Spares ones where made with the original presses, but the dates don't tie up with what Dave has posted as I did my floors in 1999/2000

                    Hi Nick and Mike,

The front floor panel I got from Paddocks did have the long vertical pressing (it's the top of the chassis leg) but, as I said last night, I'm sure they were narrower so didn't have the holes for the gearbox cross member.

Also they were only bent at 90 degrees on the sill side but my bodyshop guy seemed to fit them fine. To be honest I think the wider ones without the indentation for the chassis leg seem like they might be better cos, assuming the chassis leg is ok, isn't the top really just decorative?

Mike - did you make sense of the gearbox cross member bracket in the end? - You did see the diagram I posted on the other thread didn't you?

                    Cheers

                    Julian

Yes my friend I understood in the end, I must have had a mental block, or was just suffering from the shock of finding my old lady eaten away with tin worm LOL

                      Thanks: Mike
