The wires in the first picture go to starter motor
The wire in second picture look like overdrive/reversing lights, the plug sit at back of engine, and you have a small adaptor plug that fits it,other wise the overdrive and reversing lights wont work

Thanks guys, I was going to hook up the starter but noticed the terminals on the solenoid were broken. So need a new Solenoid. Which type is this and what exactly do I need to order.

I just replaced the solenoid on my starter.
It looks the same as yours and has the 76884B number.
The feed to the coil was not providing 12v whilst cranking.
On removal I could also see that the seal had failed and the return spring had seen better days.
          I purchased 520473 from Paddocks.
It has 2x 6.3mm spade connectors, instead of 1x 4.8mm & 1x 6.3mm, so I had to replace one of the cable connection terminations.
The shape of the latch onto the starter lever is also different to the original, but seems to engage OK.
It comes with 2x Metric crosshead screws instead of the original hex bolts.
It seems to work OK, but is obviously a reproduction.
I gave the starter a coat of pain before refitting (see attached).
          Den

Thanks for the info, I am gutted though because it was an original Lucas Solenoid, if that means anything?

No that’s panel lights, white red is starter solenoid feed. As said before, the order is important, see your ROM.

One of those was in the boot when I bought my Stag. Over the years I've been able to fortunately wear it less and less....

                The answer isn't 42, it's 1/137
