    Brake advice

    Fantastic Drive out last weekend

    I want to replace the brakes and probably discs, is this something I can do myself.

    Any recommendations where to get the parts

    Delphi are good at brake pads etc.

      I assume you mean changing callipers as well as discs. It is not a difficult job to do provided you have the correct tools. The existing bolts may be seized and take some persuasion to remove. I would replace them with new ones. I bought all my parts from L D Parts. While you are at it probably a good idea to change wheel bearings. I assume you have either a Haynes Manual or a copy of the Stag ROM

          As John said, getting the calliper mounting bolts out can be a pain. I recently bought an electric impact wrench, and that has transformed the job. It is incredible for getting those large, stuck bolts out. I got this one:

            Here's some pics of mine when I fitted them plus new SS dust shields. The blue felt tip marks on the bolts are to show that I had tightened the bolts up to the correct torque.

                  I have an array of tools and just had some rotors refaced and changed the pistons and seals. I live in California and rust is not a major issue but having an impact wrench helps. Compared to the caliper rebuild kit new calipers are not that expensive.

                    You don't have to change the calipers if they are working properly. When you disassemble, you can discover if any of the pistons are stuck. If not, no problem using them again, assuming no other issues.
                    Header tanks - you can't beat a bit of bling.
