Spluttering when warmed up Stag finally sorted..

Hi all, my first post several weeks ago concerned my new Stag and the splutters it developed when warmed up.Thank you all for the advice I recieved but after checking the timing, (3 degrees advanced) fitting a new fuel pump and the already fitted plugs, leads, coil, distributor cap and rotor arm the annoying fault still persisted. The only thing left now was the Lumemition optronic ignition, which from surfing the forum appeared to generally work or not work at all. After much more sleuthing I found some posts about problems members had experienced with their Lumenition so rather tham spend almost £200 for a new system I purchased and fitted a Power Spark kit for just under £40 delivered.
The Stag now runs superbly and I am at last able to enjoy the Stag experience and that V8 sound track, so lesson learned , Lumenition can work but can also cause problems !! Cheers everone. Jusdrew.

Did you read the posts regarding the Lumenition inline 3-pin plug? This is often the cause of problems with Lumenition. Replacing it with a Superseal waterproof plug fixes it.

Might also be worth reading past posts regarding Powerspark modules.

Hi DJT, yes i was aware of the three pin plug and i did check the pins and closed up the female side of the plug but to no avail. I bought the Power Spark because it was quite inexpensive to see if it would cure the problem which it did. Don't you find so often the problem with reviews is that for everyone who recommends a product there is also usually somebody who advices to stay well away.

Buy 2; keep the spare in the glovebox alongside the spare diaphragms, carb knuckles & other likley candidates, if there’s room… we used to have points and condenser there, in the same manner. Those can be ditched now, in most cases!
