KYB shocks

Hi, my car is currently running KYB shocks front and rear. The car has been polybushed and has Triumph 2000 springs which are slightly lower and firmer at the front. I am wondering if the ride quality would be improved by fitting either Koni or Gaz shocks. The KYBs are suppose to be a good compromise and a reasonable price but not adjustable and wonder how firm they are relative to the softer settings on the adjustable dampers.

I was told after buying a set of Spax ajustables for my first auto Stag KYBs suit the Stag. I have spax on my second manual stag and have a love hate relationship with them making the ride too harsh. the rear are at the softest setting . I'm not sure of the front as they are the eariler type where the adjustment has to be done before inserting them. Since I bought the Spax for Stag no. 1 I will one day install them.

I had SPAX adjustables all round. Fronts were adjustable from hard to solid. Now got KYB’S all round, happy with them. SPAX told me that they had since modified the fronts to soften them..

I can only say that Gaz are good. Thought I’d made a big error to start with, as the car was like a boat on a choppy sea. But with a bit of adjustment they give a good firm ride. Made the car very direct, with no body roll at all. There again you could set it up to be totally different.

I have KYB's after having had Spax adjustable for many years - I loved the Spax as I could adjust them according to how I wanted the car set up, Kyb's are very good though with my main reservation being with the car lowered that a long flowing dip in the road can unsettle them too easily and allow grounding which was not the case with the Spax,.
If I were replacing them again I'd go for Spax 100%
