Power steering hoses from SOC spares

The new hoses look rather different to the old ones. (different bends in the solid bits). Before I spend yet more time on my back under the car practising swearing, has anyone sucessfully fitted a set from SOC spares? I have asked them the same question, of course, and will report back.

    Yes, some time back though.
recall the flared end into the pump was needing to be firmly held to engage the nut thread.

No response yet from SOC spares - anyone know if they are on holiday or such?

In the meantime, I got a local Pirtek branch to refurbish my originals so I have options.. If that works, the SOC ones will go back.

How hard is it to take an original pair and copy them. The lhd are nowhere near....

Same from the Bros'. The bend profiles are different to the originals. They go on with some hefty persuasion. I'm sure the regular suppliers use the same source for spare parts.

Getting any manufacturers to make anything in low volumes for low returns is actually very difficult we run into the issue with so SOCTFL projects/research all the time.

Just a quick update - with a recon rack fitted, the refurbished original hoses went back on with no difficulty whatsoever. I was dreading a long session of cross threading and cross words etc., but in practice it was really easy!
One thing I did do was to incorporate a swivel joint in the high pressure hose, as maintaining the correct orientation between the two ends was impossible. Fitted the hose, then tightened the swivel joint - et voila!

For completeness sake, as I rather suspected, re-using the old hose ends did give rise to a small leak on the HP hose at the pump, but a little Loctite 55 PTFE cord sorted that. Totally leak free at the rack ends, very happy with that.

I think this is a common issue, and does not seem to matter where you get them from, mine were the same.
After the new ones wouldn't fit I ended up bending the metal pipes to get the right approach to the rack. Ignore the shape of the metal pipe and look at what ir needed to get the nut to align.
I spread out the adjustments across more than one of the bends so it wouldn't colapse the pipe, does not need much adjustment, but if the nut is not straight it won't take up the thread.
