    Brake light switch recommendations

I've had to change a few brake light switches these last few years. One failed after many years, the other being a modern replacement, its back fell off. I think there was too much pressure on the spring in it. Anyway, since I have two Stag's I would like to buy a spare. I'm not really looking for a Triumph one, but has anyone found a good solid substitute?

The best solution is to fit an inline brake switch, one that works off of brake fluids’ pressure. They can be fitted by 3 or 4 way splitter. Mine been on the car for over 12 years now.

I had the same problem several years ago with failing brake light switches.
Did a search and found a genuine BMW switch for a series 3, which looked the same, took a chance and ordered it and was an exact replacement, all metal quality part and has not given any problems since fitting. Certainly better than the plastic Triumph replacement switch.
Do a search on EBay, they are still available for about £9.

brought back to life this older topic, my plastic switch has failed in less than a year, does any one know of better replacement, typed into eBay BMW recommendation appears to be no longer listed.

You need to try harder, still available, £10.23 on eBay.

              Try searching E21 series

                  No prob.

Same switch was also used by SAAB, I've been using one for over 10 years.

Yep, I've fitted the BMW switch and no issues for some years now, that after plastic ones fell to bits all too soon.

Newbie here! Brake lights failed. All other rear lights working, bulbs OK. Assume its the brake light switch. Just about to order the BMW version as above from eBay. So, I have located the switch above the pedal. Can someone please tell me how to replace it? I can’t really get down that low and twist my back! Is it just unplugging the leads, unscrewing it and putting new one in? Thanks!

                      is this the one?

                        Yes, that is the one.
Easier to reach if you remove instrument panel 1st. Otherwise you have to grovel about in the footwell.
