valve clearance

Hi all, does anyone know of a good mobile mechanic in Shropshire that can check and adjust if necessary the valve clearances on my car. I am a mechanical novice when it comes to this aspect of the car in that I’ve got a feeler gauge and I can remove the cam covers but that’s where it ends. Thanks all in advance

To check them that's about all you need. why not find out where they are before paying someone?

If you are going to take the spark plug leads off mark them with the cyclinder number, it's just easier put it all back, see below

if you take the plugs out you should be able to turn the engine by hand with a spanner on the pulley or flick the starter to get the Heel in the correct position

Difficult question to answer but how hard/easy should it be to insert the feeler gauge if the clearance is correct?

The feeler gauges are called that … the correct feel is tricky to describe. Some where between loose and tight.
sorry to sound so ‘glib’!
scotty is skilled in the art.
to adjust you need a micrometer & spare shims.
the cams have to be removed to swap shims.
