Do they have a locking mechanism and what weight are they rated for and where did you buy them?

    Cheers...Al.
They are rated at 2tonnes, they lock at full height. I found them on the bay but the company cj auto have a pretty good website also.

      Quick update

The pins shouldn't spin, my fork is FUBAR so another has been ordered

The carrier needs a roll pin to stop it spinning, I will check again for a hole in the new carrier else mr drill is coming out and I'll install one

The new release bearing that I have is a heavier duty unit. So long as the fingers on the release plate are in good shape this should cause no issues.

I am still looking for advise re drilling holes in the bellhousing to install a grease nipple. I aim to do this on the bottom of the bellhousing and will report back.

The bolt that hold the fork to the cross shaft should be wired but I don't understand where the wire goes. Does it go through the bolt head and then wrap around the shaft before being wound tight?

Fun and games due to recommence tomorrow evening when I hope at least to get the box back on..

As you say, the fork pins should not spin in the fork arm's. The roll pin should be fitted to stop the thrust bearing carrier from turning on the gearboxfront nose. Is the new release bearing one of the heavy duty type now being sold by Robsport ect? (it looks it from your pic). Just wire the pinch bolt too the cross shaft, Is the pinch bolt in good condition because these bolts have a tendency to sheer off, it may be prudent to fit a new bolt.

The fitting of a grease nipple into the thrust bearing carrier, some of the gearboxfront noseshave a hole in the bottom so that if the input oil seal into the gearbox leaks then the oil will run out of the hole and not contaminate the clutch. If yours has a hole then be careful where you place the grease nipple as you could end up just pumping grease into the front nose section. Has your gearbox got a long or short front nose fitted (I think the short ones are about 90mm long) because the release bearing carriers are different, some have the internal centre section machined out slightly and I think these should only be used with long front noses.

        Hope allgoes well for you

        Les.

thanks Les, the car is all back together now. Been a busy day. I fitted a new fork, the cross shaft bushes were ok and rs confirmed that it is one of their heavy duty bearings.

Getting the box back on the car was a nightmare on my own, so i roped a friendly neighbour and 10 mins later the box was on and ready to bolt up.

Some of the bellhousing bolts were about as inaccessible as they could be. But got there in the end.

Test drive was good the clutch feels massively different and very smooth
